How to Read Political Novels? Lecture by Ivana Perica

In June 2025, Ivana Perica gave a lecture as part of the Criticism and the Novel series. This series is a joint initiative of the Graduate Programme in Comparative Literature, the Department of English and German Studies, and the Department of Asian and Slavic Languages at UFRJ, in partnership with the Graduate Programme in Linguistic and Literary Studies in English at the University of São Paulo.

In this talk, Perica explores the significance and shifting meanings of the term political novel, understood both as a tentative literary genre and as a politically productive cultural formation.
